Most men have been shaving ever since your teenage days, and assume they know all about shaving. But a few tricks and tips could always come handy. Here’s what you need to do to get the best shave possible.
Cleaning your face before a shave is very important. Use a gentle foaming cleanser to wash away the dirt and use warm water to wash your face. Warm water helps to soften the hair and open up the pores. Alternatively, you can use a warm, hot cloth and press it on your face.
Pre-shaving is done to prepare the skin, softening the beard and making the skin supple. Pre-shave oils moisturize the skin, allowing it to be as supple as possible under the blade. This results in a dramatic decrease in nicks and cuts, allowing for a smoother skin, post shaving.
3. SHAVING CREAM:
Next, wet your face and lather up with the shaving cream. Let it sit for a few minutes. The longer it stays, the better the results, as it really softens the hair.
Now, most people just use their hands to apply shaving cream. Use a round brush instead. Choose one which is not too soft, and not too hard either. Apply the shaving cream in circular motion to lift the hair.
Ensure that the blade is sharp. Most cuts and nicks are caused because the blade is not sharp enough. If the blades tug at your hair, its time to say good bye to the blades.
Hold your razor in your dominant hand and use your other hand to pull your skin tightly to create as smooth surface. Shave with one stroke and rinse your blade between every swipe. If you go over a spot, be sure to apply more shave gel or cream for lubrication. Rinse the blade often. Remember to shave with the grain of your hair. Doing so in the opposite direction can cause cuts and bumps.
7. AFTER SHAVING:
Rinse your face with cold water immediately after the shave. This helps to close the cuts as well as the pores. Use an after shave to heal any minor cuts and nicks.
